Make your own Boutique and ways to succeed from the D.A.Y sisters...

Rosie Hiskey

Starting your own boutique straight out of Uni seems like a big risk to me however the sisters of D.A.Y boutique have inspired me to think more into the process of what it takes and consider it for myself.

Located in South London Disha, Apee and Yukti started the boutique in July 2018 and had previous experience of running a business through their parents shop which they ran for 40 years. With previous fashion experience each from working for Ted Baker, Net a porter and Stella & Dot they put there heads together and created D.A.Y Boutique.

A main factor of the Boutique which really interests me and would be a company I’d want to work for or keep similar morals for is that they value sustainability, ethics and diversity very highly.

Every piece of clothing is sustainably sourced and different to every other piece in the shop, the say that ethics and sustainability shouldn’t be sacrificed for a piece of clothing as they have consequences.

The boutique itself has a strong Scandinavian style which is clean and ageless. This makes the boutique feel high end and something to look forward to going to and finding individual pieces.

The branding Is classy and represents the aesthetic of D.A.Y very well showcasing their inspiration of the world and inclusivity they have.

Making your own boutique surely isn’t easy but with a good business plan and good morals people are bound to get behind the business and make it thrive. Having my own business like this motivates me to do better in the industry and highlight a positive message which is at such a low in the industry right now.
